Meet Ray
Supervisor Ray Mueller was elected in 2022 to represent District 3 on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. Since taking office, Ray has been dedicated to addressing critical issues facing the community, from public health and infrastructure, to housing and public safety. He has been instrumental in launching the Coastside Resilient Infrastructure Strategic Plan (CRISP) that today lists over 100 projects to strengthen coastal protections and led the creation of a pilot urgent care clinic to fill the healthcare gap left by the closure of the area’s only ER.
His focus on disaster preparedness includes successfully leading the County fight to preserve landline services for emergency communications and securing funds to support local radio stations, enhancing community resilience during crises. On the public safety front, Ray launched a residential burglary reward program and worked to retain sheriff’s deputies through financial incentives to ensure continued security for District 3.
Ray is a tireless advocate for workers’ rights, co-sponsoring the establishment of the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement to combat wage theft and improve workplace conditions. He also introduced the first AI workforce protection policy in the state, ensuring that technology enhances, rather than replaces, jobs for County employees.
Ray earned his law degree from UC Law in San Francisco and his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. He serves on numerous local and regional boards, including SamTrans, the San Mateo County Transit District, and Peninsula Clean Energy. Ray and his wife Kristen, a distinguished school Principal, raised their two children in San Mateo County, where they are deeply committed to the community they call home.
