Consumer fraud is on the rise, and it has come to our attention that attempts have been made to create malicious websites that closely resemble the permit portal the County of San Mateo uses. These fraudulent sites are designed to redirect users to unauthorized sites, potentially compromising personal information.

Here are some ways to keep your permit transactions secure:

  1. Only follow a link to our permit portal that comes from an smcgov.org website or @smcgov.org email address.
  2. Verify that you are using the correct URL when accessing our permit portal: https://aca-prod.accela.com/smcgov/
  3. If you receive a notification about outstanding fees, submit payment by logging in directly to our permit portal or call (650) 363-4161 with any questions.
  4. Keep in mind that permit information is public record - even if a website or person seems to have details about your permit, this does not prove it is legitimate.

If you have any questions or suspect you have received a fraudulent communication, please call (650) 363-1827 or email us.
