Red Flag Warning: No Campfires or Drop-in BBQs / Radio Road Closed
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for areas in San Mateo County for Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 6. A Red Flag Warning means warm temperatures, very low humidities, and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire.
During this period, as a safety precaution, campfires are not permitted in San Bruno Mountain Park. No BBQs are allowed in drop-in picnic areas, and in reserved areas BBQs are restricted to charcoal only—no wood fires. Radio Road will be closed during this period as a precaution against high winds.
Intermittent Trail Closures on Ridge & Bog Trail thru Dec 1
On weekdays between Monday, Sep 16 and Nov 1, weather permitting, workers will be at San Bruno Mountain treating scrub and invasive weed species such as gorse and broom. Treatment goals include the protection of sensitive grasslands and butterfly communities from competition by encroaching scrub and fast-spreading non-native species. Work will include up to 26 days of work, involving foliar or cut/stem applications of the herbicides triclopyr, aminopyralid, and/or imazapyr directly to the target plants. During the treatment, intermittent trail closures may take place on the following trails:
- Bog trail
- Ridge Trail
- Any social trails in the Southeast Ridge area
- The trail up to the Ridge Trail from Buckeye Canyon
Please stay on trail and heed all closures.
Brief Delays on Trail Near Main Parking Lot thru Dec 1
Through Dec 1, the trail leading from the main parking lot to trail marker 3 on Old Guadalupe Trail may have brief delays for pedestrian and cyclist traffic while tree work is performed on small trees near the trail.
