Crews have returned to Huddart Park to follow up on forest health work performed last November and December near the park entrance. Weather permitting, crews will continue their normal work schedule of working Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as they create shaded fuel breaks by selectively thinning vegetation and removing trees that are dead, dying, diseased, and up to 8 inches in diameter.
Crews have implemented erosion control measures and staff continue to flag and monitor sensitive resources. To date, 24 acres of vegetation have been treated in Huddart Park.
Closures
The process is noisy and disperses woody debris on trails, roads, and facilities. Beginning Tuesday, June 21, crews will be working near a portion of Richards Road Trail which is already closed due to another project. See a map of the closed portion of Richards Road Trail
Project Partners
This effort is part of a multi-year project focused on reducing wildfire risks and improving forest health and community safety in partnership with San Mateo County Resource Conservation District, and through funding from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as part of the California Climate Investments Program.
