Redwood City – To help ensure wide participation, the County has extended the deadline to complete a survey on key community needs through Monday, Aug. 28.
The survey “survey seeks to understand what San Mateo County residents need for themselves, their families, and their communities to thrive.”
The results will help influence how local Measure K tax dollars will be allocated in four key areas: Housing and Homelessness, Emergency Preparedness, Children and Families and Mental Health.
The survey is confidential, can be completed in about 10 minutes and is available in Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog or English.
The survey closes at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28.
Background
At the direction of the Board of Supervisors, the County is gathering information through the survey and a series of community listening sessions.
A listening session will be held this evening, Thursday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at College Park Elementary School (Multipurpose Room), 715 Indian Ave., San Mateo.
The eighth and final listening session is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 25, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Doelger Center, 101 Lake Merced Blvd., Daly City.
Following the conclusion of the listening sessions and the closure of the survey, staff will analyze the results and present the information to the Board of Supervisors and the public this fall.
Supervisors are then expected to consider a spending plan that seeks to address community needs utilizing Measure K funds. Measure K is a half-cent, voter-approved sales tax that provides local funds for local needs.
